Animal Hierarchy

In the land of Eirian, approximately 95% of the population is made up of Anthropomorphic animals. However, this does not mean that there are no regular animals... There are. And they are eaten by the people, anthro or not.

The people of Eirian have a way of deciding what constitutes a person and what constitutes an animal, and though it may be problematic or on faulty logic, it is how they have organized their world.

To fall under the category of person, there are some requirements:
The ability to Speak, communicate in an intelligent fashion. Writing, sign-language, even telepathy (though that is on a much rarer occasion.)

Persons must wear Clothing. Those who do not are either beasts, savages or infants. There have been times when large Dragons have been encountered that have the ability to speak, but do not wear clothing nor do they walk on two legs.

Persons should (primarily) walk upright, on two legs. (In the lands of Eirian, the Equine race has hooved feet, but their arms end with hands.) Those who do not walk on two feet are usually seen as beasts, savages or infants-- or at times, the mentally/physically impaired. Or, in the case of the Great Beasts (such as Dragons) a separate race of Eirian.



The people of Eirian have long thought of themselves as the Chosen Beasts, or animals that were chosen by God to evolve beyond their lineage. In this way, Eirians are able to meet their beastial-counterpart in the world and understand that they are not equal.

However, beasts should always be respected, even when killed and eaten. It is said that in the Insect Regions of Eirian, the races there do not respect beasts and will often kill these lesser ones for sport and pleasure, but this has not been confirmed.

There are humans in the Land of Eirian, and they originally shared a continent with the Simians, but infighting about whether or not humans were above apes broke out, and humans have since drifted around the world. Most of them have their own Kingdom now, but many have found home in other Kingdoms.
